Sarah and Tom might now be locals in Scotland, but they still call the East Coast of the USA home. This adventurous pair has much in common, including a long list of personal achievements. From higher education to athletic pursuits, Sarah and Tom are an impressive couple. Sarah is herself a professor of nutrition, Tom has founded his own company, and both of them have run marathons (Sarah in particular has run the Boston Marathon five years in a row now!) Something lovely about the two of them is that you would never know upon meeting them that they are so accomplished. They are both kind, sweet, and so down-to-earth. So, despite living so far away, Boston felt like the perfect place to gather their closest family and friends in celebration of their marriage.
It was a windy day, but temperate for June in New England. After getting ready at Le Meridien Boston-Cambridge, everyone arrived at the hotel courtyard for the intimate ceremony. Tom donned a smart blue suit and Sarah rocked a two-piece bridal set, complete with a backless sequined top with cap sleeves. Sarah’s brother himself presided over the ceremony with heartfelt words of love for his sister and her groom. Both Tom and Sarah exchanged handwritten vows expressing their appreciation for and promises to each other. And, their one-year-old godson was the ring bearer. Precious! It was emotional, it was beautiful. It was all that a wedding ceremony should be.
After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed a champagne toast right there in the courtyard followed by family photos. Then, I whisked the newlyweds away to the Charles River for some couple’s portraits. We started at Magazine Beach, walking the winding pathways and wandering through the willow trees. The fresh green foliage offered a lush backdrop, as did the river of course. Eventually we made our way to the Boston University Bridge, which has one of my favorite views of the Boston skyline. The bridge looks downriver and the whole of downtown, from Fenway all the way to the Financial District, fans out in the background. The iconic Citgo sign and Prudential Tower are visible and add that touch of Beantown personality to the gorgeous vista.
Thanks to Sarah and Tom for choosing me to capture their gorgeous Boston micro wedding. Congratulations to these two!
