For Lauren’s senior portraits, we met at Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth, Maine for a summer sunrise. It was a quiet Sunday and the beaches were empty as I greeted her and her sweet mom, Lynn. The only people who started to arrive soon after us were men loading boats into the water to take to the seas.
The sky was a gorgeous murky blue as we began the shoot, and it was immediately clear to me that Lauren is a total natural in front of the camera. She could whip out a dazzling smile just as easily as she could put on a fierce gaze. At this early hour, we got creative with the soft lighting, using the darkness to capture some blurry shots.
As the sun began to truly rise above the trees, Lauren switched from her casual jeans look to her white sundress, and it was the perfect time. A brilliant orange light backlit the scene as she crouched among the blooming beach roses and goldenrods. Her blonde waves just glowed in the sunlight.
While it was a senior photo shoot, we still took the time to capture some mother-daughter moments. Lauren and Lynn were so cute together! When I complimented Lynn’s clean look, she proudly shared that Lauren helped her pick out her outfit. I also got to learn that both ladies love basketball, with Lauren currently playing in high school and Lynn touting a history of playing all the way through college and then coaching for years. Not only do they share love, but also a passion for this sport.
Thank you, Lauren, for choosing me to capture your senior portraits! Best of luck with this final year of high school and all that’s to come :)
