Mike and Leah’s wedding day was perhaps the most tender celebration I’ve ever photographed. There were so many thoughtful details from start to finish, and I think it all represented how caring of a couple they truly are and how much they center their lives around the people they love.
To start, the couple got ready for their ceremony by joining with family and friends at Leah’s sister’s house. Kids colored at the dining table, bagels adorned the kitchen island, and everyone was abuzz with excitement. What Leah was not aware of, however, was that in the basement Mike was hard at work with two close friends rehearsing a song he would perform for her as part of their first look. Meanwhile, Leah was up in the attic gussying up alongside her closest friends.
For the first look, Mike waited patiently in the backyard as Leah made her way around the corner. He was already smiling before he even turned around, but when he spun to look at her his whole face lit up from ear to ear! After some portraits, he led her back inside where everyone was waiting for them. Leah slowly realized that Mike had something special planned, and as soon as his friends began to strum their instruments and he began to sing, she started tearing up. It was completely intimate and beautiful.
Then, it was time to make our way to Wright-Locke Farm. After some final preparations, Mike and Leah signed their ketubah (Jewish marriage license) and then proceeded down to the barn for the ceremony. The ceremony had originally been planned for the lawn, but due to rainy weather it was moved. However, the barn was so gorgeous that I don’t think anyone minded! The rustic ambiance was so cozy with the lights and lanterns hung about.
After the ceremony, City Farm Food and Events transformed the reception area. Every detail, from the lovely floral arrangements lovingly crafted by the mother of the bride to the sweet table decor advocating for adoptable pets from Last Hope K9, spoke volumes about Mike and Leah’s commitment to honoring all who are a part of their community.
The reception featured all of the wonderful classic festivities with some personalized twists: heartfelt and hilarious speeches featuring handmade posters, the hora, DJs who actually spun records (so cool!), a projected slideshow featuring images from the bride and groom’s younger years, and delectable treats from Petsi Pies and Gracie’s Ice Cream.
Congratulations to Mike and Leah!
