Amidst the chaos and unknown of the COVID-19, Michaela and Colby were still determined to finally get married. Like many couples, the pandemic foiled their original plans of having their wedding at a venue with over one hundred guests. Instead, they decided to stick with their wedding date and move their nuptials to their favorite local spot in Roanoke, VA - the historic Grandin Theatre. It was no surprise to me, as they’d done their engagement session with me in the same neighborhood.
What did surprise me, though, was how fantastically they’d tailored their outfits to suit the vintage atmosphere at the Grandin Theatre. Michaela, already effortlessly gorgeous, played up the drama with some DIY makeup, a wavy bob, and a sultry beaded gown with transparent sleeves and a low back. It all just said “old Hollywood glamour” to me! Colby, not to be outdone, sported an evergreen suit paired with a sleek tie and polished off with a classy gold pocket watch. Together, they were a sight to see.
They had their ceremony completely alone with the officiant in the main screening room. Michaela had a cute surprise for Colby as she had the opening theme to his favorite superhero movie play over the speakers as they walked down the aisle together.
After tying the not, we gallivanted out to the street to make our way to Pop’s Ice Cream and Soda Bar, another historic business adding its own vintage charm to the neighborhood. As we turned the corner, Michaela and Colby were taken aback to see Robert from Pop’s greeting them with a bagpipe serenade. He led the way down the block as we headed to the ice cream parlor. The couple sat at the counter and were treated to a delicious-looking pink milkshake.
Our final stop for was Black Dog Salvage, in keeping with the vintage themes of the day. Michaela and Colby waltzed carefree through aisles of old doors, furniture, and even hopped into some claw-foot tubs.
It was a gorgeous day to capture two beautiful people getting married. Michaela and Colby, here’s to the start of many happy adventures together. Congratulations!
