This senior portrait session took place on the kind of evening you dream about as a photographer: warm weather, flower-laden trees, and a burning orange sunset. Amid the gorgeous natural backdrop, Morgan was totally aglow. Her mother came along with us as we made use of every natural feature and point of interest available. On all of my shoots, I am all about achieving as much variety as possible and this setting did NOT disappoint!
In Explore Park, we began down by the river where the light was fading fastest. We then worked our way up the hill, following the trail from river bank to woods to footbridge. We ended up in the part of the park that boasts a handful of lovingly preserved old buildings. That charming area has an open field, and the lush green grass and pink blooms really popped. Morgan was a total pro, knowing just when to turn on a sweet smile or switch to a cool, serious gaze. As we walked between spots, I learned more about her post-graduation plans of being a phlebotomist. I admired her ability to follow her interests into a practical career.
Then, Morgan changed into a dusty teal dress for the final few locations of our shoot. We went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and found an absolutely * dreamy * copse of wisteria flowers. The flowing skirt, Morgan’s wavy hair, the dripping purple blooms…it was hard to remain calm behind the camera! Everything was just jiving together. Not to mention the wisteria smelled absolutely amazing. It was such a perfect little spot for some ethereal photos.
Finally, we hopped in our cars to head up to Pine Mountain Overlook on the Parkway, which has a gorgeous open view of the surrounding mountains and is generally known for its jaw-dropping sunsets. And boy, did this location really bring it for us that night! With very little traffic passing by, Morgan was able to wander along the road and railing for a bit of adventure. As the sun got lower, the sky absolutely exploded into a bright orange glow and it was the perfect ending to a fabulous shoot. Morgan shone in the warm light with her confidence and beautiful smile. Congrats to this lovely graduate!
