Yesterday I did some exploring in my new city, and I found myself getting lost in various labyrinths of old things. I passed through rows and rows of...

Every time I work with a new client, I have the joy of meeting someone new and taking a peek into their life. The Shaub family was no exception. Mom and Dad's dry humor paired with the daughters' adventurous spirits made for a really fun time.
At sessions, I sometimes even get to discover a new place. The Shaubs asked that we do their family portrait session at...

The holidays are upon us, and many of us will send and/or receive Christmas cards this year. There's no better time to get your family together for a portrait session! Last month I met the Schwartz family at Smith Mountain Lake to take advantage of the lakeside views and...

As the parking lot gravel crunched under the weight of my tires, my eyes swept over the tidy landscape of Frith Farm. Nestled in a woodsy corner of Scarborough, ME, the farm sits on the the edge of the forest. I stepped out of the car and took in the view of greenhouses, rows upon rows of flowers and vegetables, a henhouse and pasture, and a barn filled with harvested goods ready for CSA members. As much as I longed in that moment to gather some fresh goods for dinner, I was not there to pick vegetables - I was there to pick the brain of an old friend....

An evening ferry ride from Portland carried us across Casco Bay between lighthouses and fishing boats to Peaks Island. The sun was warm and the air was fresh. Immediately after stepping off the boat, we could feel the island vibe in the air, feel it drape over our shoulders in a way that made us feel lighter. Pickup trucks, cars with no license plates, and - can you believe it - ...

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you directly without problems or pride:
I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love,
except in this form in which I am not nor are you,
so close that your hand upon my chest is mine,
so close that your eyes close with my dreams."
During the wedding ceremony, Tatiana's sister read this excerpt from the Pablo Neruda love poem "Sonnet XVII". She held back tears while reading the verses, having just...
Read MoreAn Ode to Incredible Coworkers
A lot of quitting stories that stick out in my mind tend to end in some sort of epically victorious walkout. You've probably heard the like: the ex-employee is relieved to be free of the company that has held them in chains for so long. Last month (June 2017) I quit my job as a Product Manager at Paytronix Systems, Inc, and relief is not how I would describe my feelings.

Things I did not know about Iceland before traveling there:
- The population is less than 350,000
- "King beds" are really just two twins pushed together, with a separate comforter for each side
- Sheep roam absolutely everywhere...
Looking for Nostalgia in Nova Scotia
Earlier this year I read The Lobster Coast by Colin Woodard. Besides learning a ton of maritime history about my lovely home state as well as discovering just how interesting lobsters really are, I read quite a bit about Maine’s relationship with its neighbors like Massachusetts and Nova Scotia. One particular quote Woodard included about Nova Scotia that I couldn’t get out of my head was said by Richard Barringer, a professor at the Edmund Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine:

We all have old friends from high school that we haven't spoken to in years. Many of these we will probably never see again, except for when we scroll past their latest post on our social media feed. A lot of the time, that's simply enough. That is normal and okay and how things should be. Recently, I started noticing Sabina on Instagram and became so impressed with her yoga prowess, her love of plants, her pretty vegan food. The photographer in me started to brainstorm a photoshoot. She's gorgeous, is totally talented at yoga, and has a website where she might want to use my photos...sounds like a win-win, right? Luckily, she agreed! (And was somehow not weirded out by my very random Instagram direct message.) We decided to...

Let's set the scene for the evening.
Tucked away in a little corner of Cambridge, MA is Atwood's Tavern. Dim lighting, wooden decor, and empty bottles queued along the walls makes for an inviting yet equally mysterious venue. The contrast of warmth and intrigue creates an energy of anticipation. Ice cubes clink in glasses, chuckles sound across the bar, and patrons squeeze in among the tables to find standing room.
Enter the Kieran Ridge Band.

My best friend Kelly Thomas is a bride-to-be, and I feel so honored to be one of the bridesmaids standing up with her on the Big Day in late July. A couple of weeks ago, we (bridesmaids + MOH + Thomas family) threw Kelly a ladies-only, girly-as-can-be bridal shower to celebrate her upcoming marriage and help her get ready for the #wifelife. I sat down with Kelly this week to chat about all things bridal and marriage:

I injured my back while weightlifting in December, and four months later I'm still not totally healed. The sprain makes it uncomfortable to sit for longer than a few minutes, makes me nervous when I bend over to tie my shoes, and puts any exercise besides walking and yoga pretty much out of the question. Anyone who knows me can tell you...

Yesterday I had the opportunity to photograph the 4th Annual Pin's for Parkinson's event at Kings Bowling, Boston. The event, organized by the Team Fox Young Professionals of Boston, was put on to fundraise for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Parkinson's Disease is a chronic and degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system - basically meaning that brain cells become more damaged over time, making it harder to move and live like a normal/healthy person. Besides debilitating a person, Parkinson's can really take hold of the lives of the affected person's loved ones. While I did learn more about what Parkinson's is by attending and photographing this fundraiser, it really wasn't about

Attending Tufts and now becoming a full-time Somerville resident post-graduation has truly opened my eyes to the vibrant, artistic, and inclusive community that is Somerville, Massachusetts. Somerville Open Studios, Porch Fest, Honk, and regular farmers markets are just a few of my favorite local community events. Each of these is a chance to take a peek into the lives of the strangers I pass on the street and remember that every single one of them has a unique story to tell and special talents to share. Somerville is overflowing with a ton of fun, creative, passionate, inclusive, and conscientious people.
